Every girl (let’s say the majority of girls) loves to have beautiful nails. Some don’t care at all I give you that and some are just too lazy most of the time (yeah me included). But there is that moment, where you need to go to an event and you feel like looking presentable. Then you go to your manicurist of choice and get those damn things cut or formed and painted, for the ohhhh-you-have-beautiful-nails reaction (let’s not be shy, of course we are looking for those envious eyes or at least happy compliments). That day arrived when I was invited to a wedding – problem here – I had to travel for one week on a road trip to get there. Mainstream nail polish would not make others envious at the end of the journey, rather an opposing reaction would be visible.

Therefore, I was told about Shellack. What’s that? It’s basically like nail polish but worse, nevertheless it looks great up to (depending on your nail growth) 2,5-3 weeks. AWESOME. Yes, it shined bright during the time of the trip and at the wedding – nice and pink and beautiful. Even afterwards at home but then I had them taken down…and it started! My nails were breaking, they looked horrible, the first layer of nail was totally damaged and I just had to hide them and care for them more than ever. They are good now, but I keep them short for their own safety (breaking at the wrong places hurts way too much to not care).

I loved Shellack at the time of the wedding, I loved the perfectness and strength of it. I dislike that you have to have them taken down by your manicurist and finally I hate that my nails look terrible after the whole procedure and are weaker than ever. My recommendation is – try it out – have a look how your nails react, but please wait for this important occasion so it’s worth it!

Wait, stop, don’t run away, there is a new hype coming up! A new product that promises perfect nails. Any feedback yet?

Hallo Martina!
